Blackburn Demands Answers on Federal Employees Covering Up Border Crisis

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) called on the Biden administration for answers on why they used untrained federal government bureaucrats to care for the surge in unaccompanied alien children.

The letter questions the decision by the Biden administration to send staff from agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Trade Commission, to the border facilities.

“At the EPA alone, more than one hundred employees have reportedly expressed interest, and many have already been deployed. We write to ask for additional details about the nature, extent, and cost of these deployments,” the letter, addressed to HHS Xavier Becerra, reads.

Additionally, the employees of various agencies who decided to assist have received salaries higher than what their original position allows.

The tactic employed by the Biden administration comes as thousands of migrants have crossed the southern border illegally each day. Border facilities in multiple states are extremely overcrowded. This has led to migrants being housed in hotels and other taxpayer funded housing options.

“Taxpayers should not be on the hook for the Biden Administration’s self-induced crisis. Utilizing government employees as a stop gap and continuing to pay niche experts from entirely unrelated agencies steep salaries that are consistent with their normal duties but inconsistent with the duties they will be conducting as detainees is unacceptable,” the letter from Blackburn continues.

Yes, Every Kid

President Biden has repeatedly made decisions in policy that national security experts like former Customs and Border Patrol Chief Tom Homan say created the border crisis. One of his first actions as President was to undo several policies of the Trump administration — including the construction of a wall along the southern border.

The letter ends by asking several questions of the details of the agency crossover and any further consequences that may result from this decision.

Blackburn should be focusing on Mr Lee and his heartless decision to stop the federal unemployment payments to help those who lost their job thru no fault of their own.
